Supercritical Reactor Systems

Supercritical Fluid Dryer

Supercritical drying is a method of removing solvent and not causing surface tension effects. As the liquid evaporates, surface tension can drag small structures in the solid, causing the solid to twist or shrink. Under supercritical conditions, there is no surface tension and removal ofsupercritical fluid does not affect the shape of the solid. Supercritical drying is used to make aerogels, drying some easily damaged materials, such as archaeological samples or samples for electron microscopy tests.
